Staying Happy & Healthy this Summer
Summer is the season when everything feels different. The days are longer, the sun is brighter, and the air is warmer. It’s the perfect time to say “yes” to new adventures and explore new ways and honor all-time favorites to stay happy and healthy. However, it's also a time of year when many people can struggle. The heat can be intense and the busy summer schedule can lead to stress and overwhelm. In this blog post, we’ll be sharing some helpful tips and tricks on how to stay healthy and happy during summer. Whether you’re a busy female business owner, a working professional or someone who just wants to make the most of the season, we hope this will inspire you.
Stay Hydrated
During the summer, it’s incredibly important to stay hydrated. The high temperatures can cause dehydration, which can lead to headaches, fatigue, and a lack of energy. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water each day and avoid sugary drinks that can dehydrate you. If you find plain water unappetizing, try adding some slices of cucumber, lemon or mint to your water bottle for a refreshing twist. These fresh additives are all natural detoxifiers upping your beverage gam all the more!
Technology Breaks
Now is the perfect time to disconnect from technology and enjoy the great outdoors. Too much screen time can lead to burnout, anxiety, and depression. Instead of spending your evenings scrolling through social media, why not take a walk around your neighborhood, go for a picnic or try out a new outdoor activity. Disconnecting from technology allows your mind and body to relax and recharge. It also allows us as women to reset real life expectations for our bodies and abilities - social media magic only shows the skinny side of things through ai, photoshop, filters, and our innate attraction to showcase only life’s best moments. Take a break, a deep breath, and reconnect to the real world.
Get Plenty of Active Rest
Warm, dry weather is a great time to get active, but it’s also important to rest your body. Try incorporating some active recovery days into your weekly workout routine. Things like yoga, stretching, or a gentle hike can be a great way to move your body, while also giving it the rest it needs. Some other great summer activities that are good for the body and mind include cycling, swimming, and paddleboarding. One of our favorite summer festivities involves a sandy beach, beautiful sunsets, and waves to play around in. We also enjoy taking advantage of our country’s scenic state parks offering a variety of active, relaxing, and restorative activities.
Safety in Numbers- SPF Numbers, That is
The summer heat can be intense, which means it’s important to enjoy the outdoors safely. Always wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. If possible, stay out of the sun during peak hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Choose lightweight, breathable clothing to help keep you cool. Wearing a hat can also help prevent sunstroke and heat exhaustion.
Daily Gratitude (Positive Intelligence)
Cultivating a daily gratitude practice can have a profound impact on your overall happiness and wellbeing. Practicing gratitude can help you shift your focus from what you lack in your life to what you already have. Each day, make a list of things you're grateful for, no matter how small they may seem. This can help you stay grounded, centered, and joyful during the busy summer months.
Summer is a season of fun and excitement, but it’s important to invest time in growing your health and happiness - so let’s make the most of it! By staying hydrated, taking breaks from technology, incorporating active rest days, enjoying the outdoors safely and cultivating gratitude, you can stay physically and mentally well during the summer months. Remember, it's the little things that make a big difference. Whether you enjoy a morning walk, spend some time reading in the sunshine or take a relaxing bath before bed, make sure you prioritize self-care throughout the season. We hope these tips inspire you to make the most out of your summer and stay happy and healthy in the process.
